No matter your job, there are days that can be more stressful and overwhelming than others. It may seem that as you get one thing done, there are three more to do. On the days it feels like your head is spinning, it’s important to find ways to center yourself and stay focused.
Make a priority list
Make a good old fashioned “to do” list! Write down everything you absolutely need to get done for the day. Try to prioritize so the most important things are listed first. It’ll feel good to watch your progress as you check things off.
Use a planner
Planners are fantastic for keeping track of all the moving pieces! Write down your appointments, deadlines, events, work hours, and more. The more organized, the more in control you’ll feel and you can better prepare for what’s to come. Being able to see everything laid out in front of you will help you overcome the week, month, and year!
Take a walk
Sometimes it’s best to remove yourself from the work environment to clear your head and take a breather. Take a walk around the building or down the street. Take deep breaths and don’t go back until you feel level. Do some jumping jacks or simple exercises to get your body moving and blood flowing.
Work on one thing at a time
Multitasking can be overwhelming and can oftentimes lead to mistakes. Focus on one task at a time and give it your full attention through completion. Then, move on to the next task. This way, you’re checking things off your “to-do” list instead of creating a pile of unfinished projects.
Manage your work stress with exercise, checklists, and focus. It’s vital to find ways to manage your stressful days and find ways to remain productive while getting through them!
