A new year means a clean slate to organize your life and new goals to meet. If your old tactics weren’t working, don’t be discouraged. We have some surefire ways that will guide you on your path toward positive change for the new year. The only thing you have to do is stick with it!
Step One: Figure out why you are committed to making a change. If you don’t know, you won’t be determined. Why are you doing this? Why is it important? Step Two: Create a short-term goal and stick with it. A week, two weeks, one month—set an end time and commit. It takes around 60 days for something to become a habit. Step Three: Make goal-setting a regular activity. The only way to succeed is to be consistent with it. Set time aside to create new goals and determine when the finish line will be. Better yet, write it on your calendar! Step Four: Take baby steps before gradually taking bigger leaps. It’s okay to set one or two goals at a time if that’s what you feel you can handle. Once these become habit, add on more goals, bigger goals.
Step Five: Surround yourself with people who will encourage and support you on your journey to completing these goals. Model people’s behavior that you admire and respect. Step Six: Reward yourself. Don’t forget to celebrate at each finish line. Be proud of the goals you have met and the changes you have made along the way, no matter how small they be.
You won’t see change over night, but if you stick with this and remain dedicated, you will see positive change in your life soon enough!
