In its second year, Fempreneur is being organized by several local businesswomen, Heather Doering (Ace in the Hole Branding), and Kelly Masters (Graceful Communications). Participants will enjoy a day of inspiration, relationship-building and tips for building themselves and their businesses, with access to more than 15 panelists, a robust Resource Marketplace and other women business owners who are striving to thrive in 2017.


Accounting firm adds 2nd office

Cheryl Skynar kick-started her business, Skynar Bookkeeping, when she helped a friend do payroll so she could get to the neighborhood barbecue on time.

By pumping out the payroll for her neighbor at a record pace, she made a client for life, and, as a result of the referrals stemming from that day, launched a new full-time business.

Skynar’s experience with bookkeeping stems back 33 years, working with most of her clients out of her home office. In 2014, when she landed several Tech Town Detroit and Ann Arbor start-up gigs, she knew she needed to expand the operation.


Community-Involved Skynar Bookkeeping Announces Expansion to Downriver

Trenton, MI – April 10, 2016 – Skynar Bookkeeping of Plymouth announced this week a second office to serve their existing and prospective Downriver clients. The new office is located in the Executive Office Suites of Trenton at 2836 W. Jefferson in Suite 112.

“It was time,” said Founder and President, Cheryl Skynar, “With our growing business, we wanted to be closer to the large number of clients we help in the Downriver area. Trenton has some wonderful corporate facilities and we are thrilled with our new second location. The whole town has been very welcoming!” Cheryl founded Skynar Bookkeeping in 2002 after a long career in the corporate world. Her husband, Tom, joined her in the business in 2014 and now handles all daily operations and business development. Today, they employ three staff bookkeepers and service more than 100 clients with Accounts Receivables & Payables; monthly, quarterly and yearly financial reports; Payroll and numerous other bookkeeping functions. They are also authorized QuickBooks resellers. Cheryl has held the distinction of being an Advanced Certified QuickBooks Desktop ProAdvisor since 2012 and is certified in all QuickBooks products. Earlier this year she added the certification of Advanced Certified in QuickBooks Online. This sets her among the top 5% of ProAdvisors in the country.


Growth prompts bookkeepers’ move to Plymouth

After 25 years working in the bookkeeping profession for other firms, Cheryl Skynar decided it was time to open her own business.

After developing a well-thought-out business plan, Skynar founded Skynar Bookkeeping Services in 2002 from her home office in Canton. The business grew so she and her husband Tom moved Sept. 17 to their new 1,130-square-foot office at 9397 Haggerty in Plymouth.
